Vladislav Potekhin painted “Village in Autumn” in 1960, and the piece has a distinctive creative energy. The artist conceptualizes Russian and European art in his own unique way. His contemplation brings an understanding of colour as a special form of the image. Colour and light become important archetypes - this was what made Potekhin akin to the Impressionists. Virtually all his work is permeated with an impression of lightness. In “Village in Autumn” he conveys nature with both flair and a lightness of spirit.
